Itinerary - Grand Tour of Sri Lanka
Day 1: Colombo – Pinnawela – Dambulla
After arriving at Colombo airport, start your journey towards Dambulla. During the journey, make a stop at Pinnawela to spend some time at the Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage – a captive breeding ground for wild Asian elephants. This is followed by an overnight stay at Dambulla.
Day 2: Dambulla - Sigiriya
Enjoy your hearty breakfast and set off on a tour of Dambulla. Visit the Dambulla Rock Temple, which consists of almost 150 images of Lord Buddha. Afterwards, continue your journey towards Sigiriya. After arriving, check in at the hotel and set off for sightseeing at the famed Sigiriya Rock Fortress, known for its incredible frescoes. This is followed by an overnight stay.
Day 3: Sigiriya – Polonnaruwa – Sigiriya
After breakfast, prepare for a day trip to Polonnaruwa, famous for its ancient spots including The Lotus Bath, Royal Palace, and Gal Viharaya. Return to Sigiriya for a delicious lunch and enjoy the rest of the evening at your leisure. This is followed by a night halt.
Day 4: Kandy
Enjoy a delicious breakfast and then make your way towards Kandy. After arriving, get transferred to your hotel. After some time, get ready for a city tour. Some of the popular attractions you will visit include the arts and crafts center, the market and town of Kandy, Kandy Lake, and the famous Temple of the Tooth Relic. In the evening, attend a cultural event that promises to be special. This is followed by a night stay.
Day 5: Nuwara Eliya
After enjoying your hearty morning breakfast, depart for Nuwara Eliya, fondly referred to as “Little England.” This place has a very British country feel to it and was once a favorite escape for the hardworking people of the English tea industry. Located at an altitude of almost 6,128ft, it’s considered one of the most important centers for tea plantation in Sri Lanka. Experience a tour of this beautiful area amidst all the natural beauty surrounding you. You will also visit the highest mountain in Sri Lanka, Pidurutalagala (8282ft). This is followed by an overnight stay at Nuwara Eliya.
Day 6: Beruwela
Enjoy your breakfast and then get transferred to Beruwela. Complete your check-in formalities at the hotel and indulge in several leisure activities at the beach. Spend an overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 7: Colombo
This is the last day of your tour. On this day, you will be transferred to the Colombo airport for boarding your flight for your onward destination, concluding your unforgettable journey with UNIT 9 Travels.
