Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Shimla - Transfer to Sarahan
Upon arrival in Shimla, meet your guide and start your journey to Sarahan, a quaint village known as the "Gateway to Kinnaur." En route, enjoy scenic views of apple orchards and terraced fields. Arrive in Sarahan by evening, where you’ll visit the famous Bhimakali Temple, a stunning wooden structure with rich carvings. Check into your hotel or guesthouse in Sarahan and enjoy a welcome dinner. Overnight stay in Sarahan.
Day 2: Sarahan to Sangla Valley
After breakfast, drive towards Sangla Valley, a lush valley surrounded by towering mountains and dotted with apple orchards. En route, stop at the Karcham Dam for scenic views. Upon arrival in Sangla, check into your accommodation. In the afternoon, visit the Kamru Fort, an ancient fort with a temple dedicated to the local deity. Spend the rest of the day exploring the valley and enjoying the cool mountain air. Dinner and overnight stay in Sangla.
Day 3: Sangla - Chitkul - Sangla
Today, embark on an excursion to Chitkul, the last inhabited village near the Indo-Tibetan border. The scenic drive offers breathtaking views of the Baspa River and surrounding peaks. Explore Chitkul village, with its charming houses and local temple, and take a walk along the river for picturesque views. Day 4: Sangla to Kalpa
After breakfast, drive to Kalpa, a beautiful village with views of the Kinnaur Kailash Range, a sacred peak in Hindu and local folklore. Check into your hotel in Kalpa and visit the famous Suicide Point, a viewpoint with spectacular (and vertigo-inducing) views of the valley. In the evening, visit the local monasteries and temples, soaking in the peaceful ambiance. Overnight stay in Kalpa.
Day 5: Kalpa to Nako
Today, travel to Nako, a high-altitude village known for its stunning lake and monastery. Enjoy a picnic lunch by Nako Lake, which sits amidst a rugged mountainous backdrop. Afterward, visit the Nako Monastery, an ancient Tibetan Buddhist monastery. Spend the evening exploring the village, interacting with locals, and experiencing the tranquility of this remote place. Day 6: Nako to Tabo via Gue Village
After breakfast, proceed to Tabo. En route, visit Gue Village, famous for its 500-year-old mummified monk, preserved naturally due to the cold and arid conditions. Arrive in Tabo by afternoon and check into your guesthouse. In the evening, visit Tabo Monastery, known as the "Ajanta of the Himalayas" due to its ancient murals and Buddhist artifacts. Day 7: Tabo to Kaza - Key Monastery and Kibber Village
Today, continue your journey to Kaza, the administrative center of Spiti Valley. Check into your hotel upon arrival. After settling in, visit Key Monastery, an iconic Tibetan Buddhist monastery that sits on a hilltop with breathtaking views of the valley. Then, head to Kibber Village, one of the highest motorable villages in the world, where you can experience local life and stunning landscapes. Return to Kaza for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 8: Kaza - Hikkim, Komic, and Langza Villages
After breakfast, set out on an excursion to visit three unique villages near Kaza. Start with Hikkim, home to the world’s highest post office. Then, proceed to Komic, one of the highest villages in Asia, where you’ll find a unique monastery with rich Tibetan influence. Conclude with Langza, a village famous for its fossils and a giant Buddha statue overlooking the valley. Return to Kaza by evening for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 9: Kaza to Pin Valley - Dhankar Monastery
Today, embark on a scenic drive to the Pin Valley, known for its scenic landscapes and wildlife, including the elusive snow leopard. Explore the beautiful surroundings of Pin Valley and then visit Dhankar Monastery, perched high on a cliff with spectacular views of the confluence of the Spiti and Pin rivers. Return to Kaza in the evening. Dinner and overnight stay in Kaza.
Day 10: Kaza to Manali via Kunzum Pass and Rohtang Pass
After an early breakfast, begin your drive back to Manali, crossing the scenic Kunzum Pass and Rohtang Pass. Enjoy the breathtaking landscapes along the way, as you return from the high-altitude desert to greener valleys. Arrive in Manali by evening, where the tour concludes, with drop-off at your preferred location or an overnight stay in Manali if desired.
